Description

The Murena is a front three-seater sports coupe with a transverse mid-engine. Designed by passionate engineers, the Murena is an exclusive creation, unlike the industrial coupes of major manufacturers. Its luggage compartment, located behind the engine, is accessible by a large glazed tailgate. The retractable headlights, already chosen on the Matra 530 and Bagheera, continue in the same vein. They were an essential component of the design of sportswomen of his time.

History

Its design is the work of the Greek stylist Antoine Volanis[2], already co-author of the Bagheera and author of the Rancho. The finesse of the line contrasts, however, with some imperfections of the assembly, which is still too artisanal at Matra. The glass surface, with its large, extremely inclined windscreen, is very important and allows exceptional overall visibility for a mid-engine coupé. The retractable headlights guarantee a very plunging hood. The Cx is 0.328, a very good value for a mid-engine car.
